Description
The postpartum exercise readiness session helps determine how you can safely resume riding and exercise after birth, focusing on a gradual and individualised approach, often after the 6-12 week postpartum check up with your doctor.
This session focuses on specific female and postnatal considerations, pelvic health, birth history, holistic health and nutrition, movement screening, physical analysis of the core and glutes, and the physical & mental demands of motherhood and mountain biking.
Ali also will guide you through bike set up and equipment, lifestyle factors and modifications, riding technique, training program, goal setting, and more based on your unique needs. She may also discuss with you hormones and their influence on your performance, riding while pregnant/breastfeeding, and how specific parts of the female body are uniquely affected by mountain biking.
There are five big factors that influence your return to riding and performance:
- Your Mindset, beliefs, attitudes, – (it can hinder or help your postpartum recovery)
- Pregnancy/Postpartum physiological changes,
- Breathing, Pelvic floor & The core,
- What you do during the day
- Support (nutritional, physical, emotional).
Following this session (which can be done at a venue suitable for you e.g your home or a public exercise area) a one on one MTB clinic is a great follow up. Topics/skills learnt on the trails that relate to postpartum riding include:
- body position/alignment
- breathing
- individual riding technique, concerns and goals
Please send me a message to book in a date suitable for you.
